Scrapbook Challenges and Scrap it with a Song

Good morning blogosphere.  I am up way earlier that I would like to be, but I haven't been sleeping very well and I hate just laying there.  So here I am.

First off, lets start with the sketch this week at Scrapbook Challenges.

I just loved this sketch and decided to make it into a one photo page.   And here is my page,

And now for my last official page as a DT member at Scrap it with a Song.  I decided to retire, as I am just overwhelmed with things at the moment.  The song is Lucky by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat.

And here is my page,

I think I may add some buttons to the flowers, but I am not sure yet, lol.

The sponsor for this week is Toucan Scraps.  She has offered the winner a 6 pack of digi papers.

So there you have it.  Have a great week.

Winter Wonderland

The song this week at Scrap it With a Song, is "Winter Wonderland."  This one was pretty easy for me, as last year we lived in a winter wonderland. LOL.  This week the sponsor is The Stamping Boutique.  I have never worked with digi images before.  I have often been intimated by the thought of it.   But I thought I would give it a try.  And I loved how it came out.  Here is my page featuring the snowflake tree stamp.

So I hope you all have a fantastic Thanksgiving and you find a little bit of scrappy time and that you all play along.

My Guy

The song this week at Scrap it with a Song is "My Guy."  I decided to do a layout on my kitty boy, Oscar Leroy Brown.  AKA Oscar.  AKA "Mean Kitty".  AKA "Bad Bad Leroy Brown."  As you can see, he is a cat of many names.

Back in the day, when I was in graduate school I worked with the humane society trapping feral cats.  There was a colony that lived near some dumpsters where I had an apartment.  Oscar was the second cat I trapped.  (The first was a lovely and very tame tortoiseshell kitty who my friend found a home for.)     Basically what I would do is set the trap at night, catch the cats, bring them into my very very small apartment with my two cats.  The trapped cats would stay in the cage in the bathroom until I took them to the vet the next morning to get fixed.    Then they would recouperate in my bathroom- in a carrier at this point, until they could be released back to their colony.

Anyway, I ended up keeping Oscar.  He was semi-tame and he was so little.  It took him days to calm down and let us become friends. I will never forget when he did.  He stuck his little paw out and squeaked.  (Most people do not realize that wild or feral cats do not meow, meowing is typically something cats do to people. And that being said, he has just now started meowing, and he has been with me nearly 10 years.)   So I let him out of the carrier and I got in the shower.  He actually got in the shower with me.  I held him and washed him and he just loved it.

Later that day I took him to the vet and they could not believe that he was feral.  But he was and every once in a while you can still see it in him.   (And that is why he is known to Bella as "mean kitty.)

So here is my layout- sorry for the lesson on feral kitties.

This week the sponsor is the Stamping Boutique.

Two layouts featuring Gracie

I didn't realize it while I was doing my assignments this week, but both pages feature my youngest daughter Gracie.

For Scrap it With a Song, the song was "Born to be Wild" by the great Stepphenwolf.    I titled my page "Born to be Wild?" and used a picture of Gracie taken when we were still in the hospital.   She is such a wild thing now (everyone comments on how fast she is and crazy she is) that is hard to remember how quiet she started.  Even in utero she was calm.  I had to do the kick counts every day because she rarely be-bopped around in there.  (In contrast Bella was a soccer player constantly beaten me, to the point that people could see my stomach moving.) Then Gracie was born and she did cry right away, but those two days in the hospital I actually worried about how quite she was.  That all changed quickly, and that is what my journaling is about.  So here is the page,

This one is from a kit at the Scrap-Room.

This week's challenge is being sponsored by Digital Delights and they have offered up to the winner a $10 gift certificate that will equal 5 images.  So if you want to play along please do, just link up your creation to the main blog.

Now on to the next layout about Gracie.  This one is for Scrapbook Challenges and it is sketch 223.    This page is entitled "Dancing Queen" (I JUST realized I spelled Dancing wrong on this page, so I will fix it asap) and features Gracie dancing on the table whilst posing for the camera.   It truly shows her wild side.

So here is the sketch

And here is my page

This page is from a kit at Dixie Pieces.

Scrap it with a Song and Scrapbook Challenges layouts

So life has gotten insane, or at least it feels that way.   And I have found it hard to sit down and do anything.  So here I am late again with my layouts.

The song this week at Scrap it with a Song is Vogue by Madonna.  This summer I took my girls and one of their cousins to my parents house for a week.  My cousin, Ian, posed every time I had my camera out.  But they weren't any old poses, they were outlandish poses.  Then Bella started doing it.   So I knew exactly what to do for the song and here are the two of them with their poses,

(all elements, minus the alphas are from a kit at the scrap-room)

The sponsor this week is Sew Many  Cards and the winner will win five digi images.

And here is sketch 222 from Scrapbook Challenges,

and here is my layout

This is me and my hubby from two weeks ago.  It was our anniversary and we went to a B&B and had a quiet weekend.

My reveals

Well I am being uber lazy today- have a layout laying on my table and no inspiration and no motivation.  So I am watching Ponyo with my daughter.   If you have never seen it, watch it.  Such a wonderful movie.  So while I am doing nothing- and trying not to snack- I thought, this is a perfect time to update my blog.

So here is the sketch from Scrapbook Challenges,

I LOVE this sketch and I love what I did with it.  LOL.,

My hubby and Bella at a Nationals game.  I nagged him to make sure he took lots of pictures.  And he did.  He even asked other people to take pictures of them together. Gotta love that man.

All elements, minus the alphas, are from the scrap room dot com.  And the alpahs are thickers that I distressed with ink.  The D is actually a cut C and a I.

Now on to Scrap it with a Song.  The song this week is "Life is a Highway" and here is my page

(The papers are all Echo Park and are also from the Scrap Room.)

This week we are being sponsored by Crafty Ribbons!!!

They have offered up to the winner their entire Single Hearts line!!! No need to pick from their entire color selection...they are sending them all!

So if you want to play along link up at the main blog.

My reveals.

I swear life keeps getting away from me.  Too much to do, and not enough time.  But I am getting to scrapbook some, and I am getting a much needed break from my darling girls.

So here are my two reveals.  Start with Scrapbook Challenges,  Sketch 218

And my layout- not a good picture, will re-take it at some point.

Now for Scrap it With a Song.  The Song this week is "Little Wonders" by Rob Thomas.  There is a line in the song that says, "Our lives are made in these small hours."  That line makes me think of how our lives are made up of all the little moments, the day to day activities.  So I made a two page layout with multiple photos.  And here it is

Scrap it with a Song - Upside Down

The song this week at Scrap it With a Song is "Upside Down" by Jack Johnson.  This is a really fun song, with a ton of possibilities.

I took the title and used pictures of my little monkey bear, Gracie.

The papers and journal card came from a kit at the scrap room.

The winner of this weeks song challenge will get a pack of primas from the owner of Scrap it with a Song, Christina.  So make sure you play.

Scrap it With A Song- you will be in my heart

A quick post from the beach.  The song this week at Scrap it With a Song is "You will be in my heart" from the Tarzan soundtrack.  I am using a picture of my beautiful baby sister, Sarah and the line, "this bond between us will never be broken."  The more I look at the layout the more I think it needs something added to it.  So I may add something when I have more time after I get home.

Anyway here it is,

The sponsor this week is Sew Many Cards.  They have offered up to the winner of this week's challenge FIVE digi images from their shop.

my last NAS and my Scrap it with a Song page.

Here is my last layout for NAS, it has been a great term and Shawn is wonderful to work with. Here is the sketch

And my page

And this weeks song at Scrap it with a Song is "Isn't She Lovely" by Stevie Wonder. I decided to use this picture of Jon and Bella when she was a few days old. I love this picture of them- not so much the layout though, will probably print out another picture and re-do it at some point. I remember this day very well. She was less than a week old and we were trying to get her birth announcement photos before she got her first set of casts. (she was born with bi-lateral clubfeet and we use the ponseti method of treatment, which included 9 weeks of hip to toe casts, and she got her first set of casts at 8 days old.) Anyway, here is my page

This week we are being sponsored by Crafty Ribbons!!!

They have offered up to the winner the most awesome of goodie packages....their entire Velvet Bling ribbon collection. There are 20 jewel colored 10mm woven velvet ribbons that are heavily glittered with a fabulous bling that won't fall off!!!

So if you want to play along please do so. Just remember to link you layout to the main blog by Sunday.

Scrap it with a Song- Get Here

The new song is up at Scrap it with a Song and it is "Get Here" by Oleta Adams. It is a really sweet song, with oh so many possibilities. But I just used the title and a picture of the girls at our old house waiting for Daddy to get home.

I used the Cosmo Cricket paper and different big letters for the letters here. I traced the big letters and then cut them from the paper. I also used some Core'dinations cardstock and sanded it for the background.

This week we are being sponsored by The Paper Trail!!!

They have offered up to the winner a $20 gift certificate to the paper Trail store!!

You will have until Sunday, August 22nd at noon (CDT) to link up your creation with the inlinkz app to the main blog.. I can't wait to see what you all do with this song. Please post your direct post link, not the url of the blog...Thanks!!

Monday Reveals

Happy Monday everyone.  Time to share my reveals.  I will start with Nuts About Sketches.  Here is the fabulous two pager from Shawn.

 And here is my page.

Love how this one turned out.  I actually fit all those pictures on here.\\

And now for Scrap it With a Song.  This weeks song is one of my all time favorite songs.  (Even if it is a country music song.)  It is "This Kiss" by Faith Hill.    It has SO many great lyrics and so many possibilities.  I chose to do a simple interpretation of it by using a picture of Bella kissing Gracie shortly after she was born.

This week's sponsor is once again the fabulous YourScrapbookStash.com!!!! YAY!!! They have generously donated a $20 gift certificate to one lucky winner.   So if you want to play along, you have until Sunday August 9 at noon (CST).  Remember to use a direct link to your project, not to your blog.  Have fun.

Scrap it with a song reveal- i hope your dreams

So the song this week at Scrap it With a Song is "Somewhere over the rainbow." Now I used a line from the original song, but the challenge this week is for the Kathryn McPhee. Now, the lyrics for the two are almost the same, but for this week's challenge I used a line from the original song. Now, I will be honest and didn't really realize I did that, but it appears I am not the only one on the DT that did that.

For some reason this song reminds of a Disney Princess movie. I think it is the whole dreams and wishing upon a star. Or maybe Disney uses that song somewhere. In my old age, my memory is going, LOL. Anyway, this picture of Bella was taken in June. It was a Saturday morning, and Jon and Gracie had gone to run errands and Bella stayed home with me. We were watching a "girl movie" (PC term for Chick Flick) and I guess she got bored. So she dressed up in a Princess dress and went over to the kids side and started peacefully playing. I immediately got my camera and started snapping away.

This week is being sponsored again by the adorable Sew Many Cards!!!

They have offered up to the winner of this week's challenge FIVE digi images from their shop. I can't wait to see what you all create :) You will have until Sunday, August 1st at noon (CDT) to link up your creation to the main blog. I can't wait to see what you all do with this song.

L.O.V.E - scrap it with a song reveal

Sorry for the delay in posting this weeks reveal. Life has gone crazy. We have a chimney chute ash thingy (yes, that IS the technical name of it) that fills up with water when we get a crazy rain. But we have chimney swifts living in our chimney and they are protected birds under the Endangered Migratory bird act. So we can't do anything about the birds. Sigh. I normally wouldn't mind the birds, it is kind of fun to hear them chirping away, but with the rain . . .

Anyway, I digress. This post is not about birds and chimneys and rain, it is about my reveal at Scrap it With a Song. SO the song this is is "L.O.V.E." I love this Christmas morning photo of me and Gracie. (And FYI, I actually did a little photoshopping to it. My shirt under the pj top had a big hole in it that you could see, so I played around with picasa and fixed it. I was VERY excited about it.)

I wrote the lyrics on the chipboard alphas.

So if you want to play along, please do so. Remember to link up your direct blog post to the main board. Our sponsor this week is once again our DT member, Angela, aka Toucan Scraps. She designs digital scrapbooking and craft printable kits. Her products include digi-paper packs, pdf printable scrap kits, digital scrapbooking kits, quickpages and ready to print gift boxes. Angela sells in 3 stores, and today she is offering the winner of this challenge a pack of 6 digi papers (8 x 8 inches) from her store at I Did It Creations (the winner can choose).

So Happy Together= Scrap it with a Song Reveal

This weeks song at Scrap it With a Song, is "So Happy Together." I just love this song. It is fun and sweet and fun. LOL. I had lots of ideas for this song, but the lyrics reminded me of my parents. They have been happily married since 1967.

I have always thought they are the best and worst example for my sister, brother and I. They are so in love and have been together forever. But they make it look so easy. As I am sure most of us know marriage is not easy and it takes work. Yet, watching them growing up, they made it look effortless.

Anyway, here is the page.

PPs and elements are Fancy Pants. ZVA bling. Little Yellow Bicycle doily.

So if you want to play along we would love to have you. The winner this week gets $25 gift certificate to

Just remember to link up your project to the main site.
