Monday reveals

Hello everyone. I truly want to thank the handful of you who actually do read my blog. LOL. I know lately I haven't given you much to look at, but I am stilll here. The summer has just taken its toll on me and time is getting away from me. So, I haven't had a lot of time to really scrapbook, other than my design team duties. But come August- yes, I am already thinking of August- when the girls are in preschool camp I will actually get time to scrap. And I maybe going to a crop then too, which I think I will really need after this summer.

Anyway on to my pages. I will show you the Nuts About Sketches one first. Here is the sketch,

And here is my layout.

For this page I used pictures from a virtual friend of mine, Vanasa. I uploaded the pictures from her photobucket account and the resolution wasn't so good. (Next time she will just email me the pictures.) That is why there are not any really close up shots of Walker.

Now for Scrap it with a Song. The song this week is Jimmy Cliffs "I Can See Clearly Now". Many of you may remember my cousin who passed away at the beginning of May, well that song was her favorite song and they actually sang and danced to it at her funeral. So I decided to do a dedication page to her. I keep the colors and style natural and clean but with a bit of a funky feel to it. All of which defines her in my eyes.

It appears crocked. But I don't think it really is. I think it is just the way it is photographed and cropped it. At least I hope so. LOL

Our sponsor this week is the fabulous Michelle's Scrapbooking and More

Michelle's Scrapbooking & More is the home of The Pixie Cottage Stamps. If you want to play along you have until July 4th to link up your direct blog post to our main blog- http://scrapitwithasong.blogspot.com/2010/06/week-11-i-can-see-clearly-now.html

Have fun and a good holiday weekend.

Scrap it With a Song Reveal

This weeks song at Scrap it With a Song is "Riding Solo" by James Derulo. I will be honest, never heard of him nor his song. And when I just clicked on it on the main blog, it isn't what I thought it would be. LOL. But the lyrics are way cool. I used the lines,

"I'm putting on my shades to cover up my eyes, I'm jumpin' in my ride, I'm heading out tonight," and used a picture of Bella in her car seat with her shades on. She was being so silly that day, LOL.

So here it is. (It is one I did and can't decide if I like it or not. Sometimes I look at it and really really like it and other times, eh, not so much.

Our sponsor this week is our very own DT member Angela. Angela, aka Toucan Scraps, designs digital scrapbooking and craft printable kits. Her products include digi-paper packs, pdf printable scrap kits, digital scrapbooking kits, quickpages and ready to print gift boxes. Angela sells in 3 stores, and today she is offering the winner of this challenge a pack of 6 digi papers (8 x 8 inches) from her store at I Did It Creations (the winner can choose).
So I hope you all are having a great week and can play along with us at scrap it with a song.

my monday reveals

Hello everyone. I have become a lazy blogger. Well, that isn't really true. The only thing I blog about is scrapbooking and the last few weeks have been un-fulfilling, scrapbook wise. I have recently become the president of our preschool co-op. So last week was the last week of preschool and I had three weekday meetings (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday), then one Thursday night. Friday was spent doing other errands. The weekend was family time, and yesterday I drove 6 hours with a 4 year old, 3 year old and a two year old. (added a kid to my regular two- but he is my nephew not some random child.)Anyway, I have scrapped, a little. But only for design team work, not for fun. So . . . I think I am letting my creative batteries recharge a bit, and hopefully can get back to scrapping next week.

So in the meantime, I have two reveals for you.

First Nuts About Sketches, here is the sketch
And my page,
Now for Scrap it With a Song. This weeks song is, Sara Evans, "Could Not Ask For More." I decided to do another wedding page, and here it is
This week is being sponsored by Sew Many Cards and they are offering this weeks winner 5 digi stamps. You will have until Noon CDT June 20th to link up your creation to the main blog.

Have a great week everyone.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Gotta say that "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" is one of my fave movies from the 80s. I mean it has SJP and Helen Hunt, before the were Carrie Bradshaw and an Oscar Winner, right? And the hair, and the clothes, and middle class America triumphing once again over the rich bitch people out there. Ah, 80s movies, wonderful.

But I digress. LOL. This weeks song at Scrap it With a Song is none other than Cyndi Lauper's Girls Just Wanna Have. So I did another wedding layout, sort of. It is a picture of me and my sister, and some of my friends from my rehearsal dinner.

And if you want to play along with us- and I know you will after you hear about our sponsor- make a page inspired by the song, and upload it on the main blog.

This week is being sponsored by the fabulous YourScrapbookStash.com!!!! YAY!!! They have generously donated a $25 gift certificate to one lucky winner. Woah...that's some shopping money right there!!! hahaha.

All these fabu prizes makes me wish I could play along.

Scrap Tiffany "Recycled" Blog Hop

Hi and welcome to my stop on the Scrap Tiffany blog hop. I am a huge fan of Scrap Tiffany and was lucky enough to be her April Guest Designer. As soon as I heard she was having another blog hop, I wanted in. And the fact that it is a "recycled" blog hop is so cool. I do have a few projects to share with you- only one is new, the others . . . well they are recycled, LOL. Projects I have done and shared previously.

But first, I have to say that if you just popped onto my blog, and you didn't start at the beginning, please go back to the first stop (http://www.scraptiffany.com)and hop from there.

Now for a few projects- I am going to save my new project for last, so bear with me. First, here is an altered cardboard box I did a little while ago. I peeled the top layer from the box and then painted it white. I used another piece of cardboard, cut it into strips, painted it pink and then made the frame.

I wasn't sure what to put inside of it, but my youngest Gracie helped, by dumping this little lunchbox die cut holder all over the floor. (Thanks C-Bear.) As I was picking it up, I noticed all these quotes, (seriously I had had this box for years and never looked in it). I thought the colors were wonderful and they were worked perfectly with this thing I was creating. It was at that point I decided to make it a wall hanging.

Then I adhered the quotes but wanted to do more. So I took all the quotes off and distressed the cardstock inside the frame. Then added the quotes back.
At this point I was about done, but really wanted the viney look. I have no twine, or anything, but I do have embroidery thread. So I took some, dipped it mod-podge and hung it to dry. One it was nice and stiff, I crisscrossed and used glue dots to stick it down. To cover the glue dots, I added the little butterflies, and here you have it.

___
Now my next project I used a mesh bag that onions or oranges or something came in. Here it is,

___

Ok now for my new project for this hop. I wanted to make a box. Now, it could hold things, or be a gift box, not really sure. I wanted it to be not too big but not to small. So, I realized that the box that I get when I buy the needle disposal for Zed's diabetic needle would be perfect. (Zed is my oldest cat and gets two shots a day to control her diabetes.) So I started with this,

Then I cut off the top so it would be a bit smaller. Then I painted it white- not really sure why, I just always paint these things first.

(Ok I fully had intended to take pictures throughout this process, but didn't. Wish I had a good excuse, but my only excuse is laziness, and that isn't a good excuse.)

I filed the top since I kind of stink at cutting straight. I picked my pp (basic grey scrap sheet that happened to fit.) I measured on side a bit smaller than the side and cut out four of them. Then I picked cardstock and cut about 4 or 5 1 inch strips. I used mod podge to adhere the pp, but glue dots for the border. For the borders I folded the pieces in half and then stuck them to the box on the edges.

I had no idea what I wanted to do after all the papers were stuck to it. As I stared at the pp, I realized that it was four hearts with a dot in the middle. So, I decided to use my slice and cut out hearts and mimic the pattern.

And this is what I came up with.

Ok, that's what I got for you. LOL. I hope you enjoyed my stop. And please, leave me a comment and I will randomly pick one person to receive a RAK from me.

The next stop on the hop, is Vicki. So hop along and have a great weekend.

baby jail- ACOT and Dixie Pieces

Here is a page i did yesterday and finished today. It is from the sketch challenge at ACOT. I am also using it for a make your own challenge at Dixie Pieces. (and all the pps came from the Dixie Pieces June kit)- I will explain that challenge in a moment. And ScrapTiffany has a pp challenge this week, so I will send it to her also.

So here it is. I actually like this one, LOL, first one in a while I can say that about.

I inked around all the edges of the pps, minus the background one. The alphas are cut with the big kids slice cart. I even attempted some stitching on it, but . . . I am still not very good at it. The journaling is across the bottom and it says, "where little girls go when they won't take a nap."

So, now for the DP challenges. Basically they are offering up a guest spot in August, for the person who gets the most points. You get points for layouts, and for items that are on your page. So for this page I get 21 points, and my points breakdown like so

Layout- 5

Brads- 2

Stitching- 7

Distressing- 2

Hand journaling- 3

Flowers – 2

- total - 21

So if you want to try for the guest designer spot at Dixie Pieces, please do so. And if you do, and you go over and introduce yourself, tell them I sent you. (But say it in this post.) And they will give me more points. LOL. Help a sista out, y'all.
