sunshine award

I have recently become virtual friends with a wonderful person, her name is Jackie. She such a talented scrapper and is so friendly and nice. She awarded me a Sunshine Award and I so touched that out of the six people she could select that she choose me as one of them. Thank you Jackie.

So now it is my turn to pass on the Sunshine Award to 6 scrappy people. I am going to break ranks and pick one person- who is a scrapper- but her [non scrapping] blog is so inspirational and amazing, that I have to include it.

So to start off, I want to send one to Leighann at Living With Three Hobbits and A Giant. This is the blog I was mentioning. Leighann has always intimidated me. From the first time I met her to pretty much every time I see her. She is the mom I want to be. She has so much faith that she has made me question my lack of faith and made me reevaluate my views on religion and its place in my life. If you haven't read this blog and the story of their miracle son Ryan, please do so now. I promise you that you won't be disappointed. But I can't promise you won't cry

Now on to some scrappy Sunshine Award recipients

- I have "known" Megan for a few years now. She was on the very first scrapbooking board I ever joined. At that board I participated in a baggie swap and Megan sent me some high quality paper- Basic Grey- I think and it changed my life. She is by far one of my scrappy idols and I LOVE her work.

- If you haven't seen Keely Yowler's work then you really should check it out. She is amazing. Truly, I love looking at her work, it is so inspirational.

- Next is Kim Holmes, from Dixie Pieces. Her blog is so fun and her work is amazing.

- Mia is a new scrapper. She posted at the Every Day Scrapper she has only been scrapbooking for a year. Which totally blows my mind. Her work is so great and she is such a sweet person. One of those people you can just tell you would have fun with.

- Lastly, is Tammy. Another scrapper from Dixie Pieces. She is so nice and her work is stunning. The things she can do with flowers and glitz totally blows my mind.

So there you have it. I hope I have introduced you to some new blogs.

so young- sketchy thursday

So I feel like I am becoming a pack rat. I see things and think, "I can't throw that away, I can use it on a page." I did that with the bag some onions came in. I like the mesh netting and thought it would be perfect. So I stowed it away. Lately I have been cooking up some things to do with it. And I thought,"how cool would it be to cut and then paint over it. The little blocks would look so cool." Well I did that, but then removed it from the cardstock. The paint was too thick. Then I saw that sketch for this weeks Sketchy Thursday and thought the mesh painted would look so neat with this sketch. Then I saw a recipe challenge (paint, staples, and chipbaord) on Sketches! {by tamara} and combined the two. And this is what I got

Now the bag was actually a pinkish red. I added some blue paint and it turned it a fun shade of blue/lavender. But some of red still shows up. The chipboard flower is Basic Grey. Simple layout yes, but I like it.

The journaling is tucked away but reads "when I look at this picture all I can think is how young we look. We really weren't that young. But we weren't married and had no kinds. Life was so different. But I wouldn't trade that for now."

two more from me

This beautiful little girl is the daughter of a virtual friend of mine. I used the scrappiest sketch #52 for it.
Ok this this one is from scrapbook challenges- sketch 186. I am also going to use it for 52 x 52 challenge - to use polka dots, ribbon and written journaling. I am not really happy with it, but . . . it is done. It just didn't come together the way I wanted it to. Oh well.

PS- don't forget the EDS blog hop, ends tomorrow night.

Two more challenges - My 3 Hearts

Ok I have to say that I really love the way this turned out. And I especially love how every picture totally reflects my family.

Ok, first of all, this is from a sketch and for a challenge at the Scrap-Room. The PP and cardstock came from their monthly kit. The hearts, ribbon and big doily heart came from a game at Dixie Pieces. It was a round of winner takes all, and I won. Lastly, I am going to use this for the Candy Shoppe Designs recipe challenge; the challenge called for

-picture(s) of your loved one

-any type of doily - even the paper kind

-flowers *to taste

-hearts*to taste

-lace

-the colors pink & red *even a pinch will do!

The flowers are not that easy to see- and I totally hope this counts- but they are on the hearts. The one stamped heart, has a flower in it also. So here it is,

PS- don't forget the EDS Blog Hop, it is still going on.

blog candy alert

Ok I have TWO blog candy alerts for you- first is from "love 4 papercrafts" and ends on the 27th. It is fully of scrappy goodness- here it is.

The second is from "True's Gift's From the Heart" It is a pretty amazing spread- here is what you could win. Your chance to win ends on the 28th.

So make sure you check them both out.

sassy lil' sketches- play-doh fun

I went to a crop this weekend, and got all my DT work done for the next month. Whew, I think I will need a day once a month to go do that. And I may start going to a library once a month, if there are not any crops around. I did manage to get a few non-DT layouts done.

Here is one of them, for Sassy Lil Sketches. I was so happy when I saw this sketch, because I had these two photos that I needed a sketch for.
PS - don't forget the EDS blog hop

Nuts About Sketches

I am so excited to announce I have been chosen for the next design team (staring March 1) at Nuts About Sketches. Shawn has some wonderful sketches- mostly two pagers- that I can't wait too start working with. I began scrapping only two page layouts, but have left that behind and now, unfortunately, mainly do one page/one-two pictures layouts. I am so happy to have this opportunity too work with some great two page sketches. And to finally scrap all those pictures I have.

Scrap Tiffany Blog Hop

Hi and welcome to my stop in the hop. I am Ana and I have been scrapbooking for about four years. I am a traditional paper scrapper, but I am trying to make myself make more cards. So I decided to make some birthday cards to celebrate Scrap Tiffany's first birthday.

But before I show you the cards, I wanted to remind everyone that there are stops before me, so if you are one of my followers, or you just happened upon my page, please go back to the beginning and play along. All the fun started at ScrapTiffany.

I made four cards all the same papers from KI Memories. I stamped them using stamps from Recollections and inked them with various markers from Close to My Heart and Slick Writers. The first two are from Sketches at My Sketch World, the third is from Page Maps, the fourth is my own creation.

Lastly, I want to thank so much for joining the hop and visiting my page. Please feel free to look at my other work and become a follower or even leave a comment or two.

Your next stop in the hop is with Carla. Have fun and I hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day.

two new ones for Scrapbook Challenges

Here are two layouts I did this week while snowed in. They are both from sketches at Scrapbook Challenges.

This one is Sketch 184. I really love how this one turned out. The papers are Sandy Lion. I backed the Queen & Co with cheap black paper. The alphas are Thickers. Bling is Zva. `
Ok I have to be honest. When I first saw this Sketch, 185, I wasn't a fan. I am not one for papers like this, but I do have to say that I LOVE how it turned out. PP is Basic Grey. I used a Close to My Heart to stamp and emboss the journal tag. Alphas are Thickers.

So go check it out. If you do and you leave a comment on the site, and then leave one here telling me you did i will put your name in for a ribbon RAK. So here is the link to my article. So get over there ok?

Our Squirrels - Twisted Sketches

We have a bench sitting outside that we place bird seed and squirrel seed on. We love watching all the critters coming up and eating. This picture was taken this past Friday, when the snow started to fall. I believe the squirrels were trying to stuff as much as they could in the cheeks. At one point on Thursday we had 6 squirrels out there, but I didn't get a good picture of it.

Anyway, I used the sketch #35 from Twisted Sketches for it, aptly enough the "twist" was to use animals.
PP are Websters pages. Journal spots are Jilli Bean Soup. Alphas are Paper Studio.

Pony Ride- the Scrappiest

Here is my oldest on her first Pony Ride. I wasn't there to witness it, but her mammaw took the pics for me. I used Sketch #50 from the Scrappiest for it. PPs are Cosmo Cricket.

Here is my layout for Sketchy Thursday's. This is how Gracie decided to eat dinner the other night. She was just moved into a booster seat from her high chair. So she is getting used to the new way of eating - I guess. At least that is what I am telling myself, LOL.

PP is GCD, alphas are chip chatter. Ribbon and gauze like stuff is unknown. Journaling stop/ticket is Tim Holtz.
