Monday reveals and my re-do page

Lets start with Nuts About Sketches.
The song this week at Scrap it with a Song, is "I hope you dance." Again, never actually heard this song. But the lyrics are lovely. I wanted to do a big picture of Bella standing by the ocean and use the lyrics "I hope you still feel small when you stand by the ocean. And when you get the chance to sit it out or dance I hope you dance."

Now I had a HARD time with this layout, because I wanted to use such a large photo. So I am, again, not happy with this page. Part of me feels like it needs more, and another part says it is fine. So . . . I don't know. (I am still in that scrapping funk, blah.)
Immediately after my last blog post I went and removed the elements from my "make a face" page and turned it to cover up the journaling. And I like it much better. If you want to see the first version, just scroll down.

Candy Shopee Designs, Scrapbook Challenges and Design Dollies

Two for you at the moment.

First is for the Candy Shoppe Designs lollipop flowers challenge. (check it out the sponsor is magpie club). I used sketch 199 from Scrapbook Challenges. I wasn't going to add the journaling, but decided to at the last moment, and it ruined the page. I honestly dislike it now. May have to do the whole thing over again, exactly the same sans the journaling. Or maybe move all the elements down to cover up the journaling, not sure. But it can't stay like that, LOL. And it isn't a good photograph, so check back and see what I do.

Second one comes from the current sketch at Design Dollies. And from the paint it challenge at Scrapbook Challenges. Again not really liking it. May have to re-scrape these photos. As I had big plans for them and it just didn't come to fruition.
Well, there you have it. Two layouts that I don't love, but had to share so I could link them up to challenges. Hope you all are having a great holiday weekend.

Cards for Lennon

My bloggie (is that a word?) friend Denise posted about a sweet little boy battling cancer. They are asking for cards to be sent to him and I am NOT a card maker, but will attempt this. If you are a card maker or even if you are not, spread the word.

Here is a link to more information about Lennon, from his nana's blog. And here is a little exert,

Lennon's mom Amanda said, "wherever the action is, that's where 3-year-old Lennon will be. Running around outside, playing video games and pretending to be his favorite super hero. He's always laughing, running around giving the nurses a hard time you would never know he was sick." But Lennon is a sick little boy.

Lennon now has multiple tumors on his brain and spine. He will have to begin the fight all over again. Now Lennon's single mother said her only son has a 20-percent chance of survival but they're not giving up.

So pop over too Denise blog or his nana's blog and do a good deed today.

~Ana

(PS Denise is giving away blog candy too.)

Scrap it With a Song Reveal

This week's song at Scrap it with a Song, is "A Love Story" by Taylor Swift. Just hearing the words "a love story" always reminds me of princess movies (watching one right now actually) and the end where they ride off together and "live happily ever after."

So I decided to use the picture of my husband and I riding off in a horse drawn carriage at the end of our wedding ceremony to our reception venue. It sounds much more romantic than it was, as our carriage driver was a talker and wouldn't shut up. LOL.

Anyway, here is the layout,

Almost all the elements for this page came from Dixie Pieces April kit. I added the flowers, the ric ric and the scalloped border.

Winner- JMS and the Blend Blog Hop

Hey everyone I used classroom tools to pick a winner, and the fruit machine picked Sherri.

Sherri said...

love the color of that layout!

Sherri I left you a comment on your blog, please get in touch with me so I can get your RAK out to you.

my everyday essential- practical scrappers and scrap yourself

I finished another challenge today. It covers three challenges. Practical Scrappers- to use border punches, scrap yourself- your everyday essentials, and ACOT - to use bazzill.
My everyday essential is coffee. Have to have it. It is the first thing I do when I wake up. And the older I get, the more I am drinking. I even go to bed at night thinking about how I can't wait to wake up and have a cup of coffee. Sad, right?

Anyway here is my page

PP is die cuts with a view. Black cardstock, edges and black alphas are all bazzill. The tan cardstock is not bazzill and I layered it with mesh and painted it to get that textured look.

Also, I re-did some of my "Gracie at 2" page. I didn't like the way it went downhill. I didn't realize it was so downhill, so I re-positioned some of it. And in doing so, I uncovered a piece of ric-rac that was hidden. Oh, and I fixed her name, LOL. So here it is,

And if you participated in the blog hop for JMS I will be picking a winner shortly.

a few challenges

***If you are looking for the JMS and the Blend Blog Hop, please click here***

I have been busy scrapping this week and it has been so nice. I managed to complete two challenges this week. The first is from the scrap-room blog.

The second page is from a challenge at 52 x52 (to use a number, scallops, and ribbon) and for ACOT to make your page around a number.
And I have just been told that Gracie is actually missing an A, oops. Need to fix that.

My Monday Reveals, a day late, again

Posting a day late again this week. Oh well. It seems that life often gets in the way of my plans, LOL.

First let me post this

**If you are looking for the JMS and the Blend Blog Hop please click here.**

Second, I have just two reveals for you this week. Both of my layouts this week were created using kits from the Scrap-Room.

The first I will do will be Nuts About Sketches. This week Shawn created a great single page layout for us.

I used some nice fall pictures of the girls playing in the leaves. This was the first nice day we had at our new house. The weather warmed up enough for me to rake leaves and for the girls to play outside.

Second is this week page for Scrap it with a Song. This week our song was "True Colors" by Cyndi Lauper.
If you want to play along with us, please do so. Just go to the main blog and leave a DIRECT LINK to your post for this challenge. You will be playing for a chance to win some digi stamps from Sew Many Layouts. Good luck and happy scrapping.

Sketchy Thursdays- giddy up

Another layout from this past weekend. I used this weeks sketch from Sketchy Thursday's. I used Cosmo Cricket for it. I feel like it needs something else, but can't put my finger on it. It seems too flat to me. So I will probably add something to it in the near future. Anyway, here it is,

scrap yourself and design dollies

Here is another one I did this weekend, for fun. It is from the sketch challenge at design dollies. I also decided to do this weeks challenge and Scrap Yourself. It is to scrap a high school photo of yourself. So I used one of my senior portrait photos.

I have tried and tried and tried to get a good photo of this layout. And it is just not working. I will try again tomorrow morning, when light is the best, but since design dollies wants it posted by midnight tonight, I have to show you what I got. Which is a crappy photograph of it. LOL, so enougth talk, here it is.

sassy lil' sketches- mystery reader

I went to a crop this weekend and got to scrap a little bit for fun. Here is one I did using a sketch Sassy lil' Sketches.

I recently started a subscription to the uber fabulous Dixie Pieces monthly kit club. So the cardstock and pp came from their May kit.

XOXO - I am lipstick chick- my first layout

I recently joined the Lipstick Chicks at the XOXO challenge blog. If you aren't familiar with the blog, check it out. It is a scraplift blog. So you just look at the teams pages and pick what you want to from one or all of them. So easy, so fun, so just do it.

Here is my page (it is a bit lopsided, LOL, sorry about that. But I got the assignment while in the midst of pain killers and muscle relaxers.) I did not take this picture, these are my daughters 2 year old portraits done by a photo studio.

PP are IOD, man I am loving this company. I picked up a pack when I was at a crop a few weeks ago, and I want to get some more. Wonderful.

Anyway, here are the rules and the sponsor if you want to play along,

Challenge #9 - Sponsored by Color Me Miki

Check me out on ACOT

Here is the link to my reveal on ACOT. It is pretty exciting, as this was the first time I had stuff sent me to use for a reveal. I had a few choices, and I choose the Clotheline line from Little Yellow Bicycle. Although it was odd having to pretty much only use the stuff they sent me. I really missed using bling and things on my page. LOL. Here is what I did,

My Monday Reveals, a day late.

With so much going on I didn't post my reveal yesterday. So I will do so today.

Lets start with Scrap It With a Song. This week's song is Paparazzi by Lady Gaga. I will be honest, I have never heard this song, nor any song by Lady Gaga (that is how I know I am getting old, LOL.) But the lyrics spoke to me. There is a line in there that goes, "this picture of us" and well, I have a picture of me and DH taken when we had just started dating, that I never know how to feel about it. When I used to see it it made me angry, now, I kind of laugh. But still . . . so here it is
If you want to play along you have until May 9th to link your pages up on the main blog. Have fun.

Next I will do Nuts About Sketches. This week Shawn created a wonderful two pager for us for week 107.I took the sketch and kind of flipped it, so that the 4x6 were on top. And I used it to document the massive renovation project we did on our kitchen. Here is my layout

And lastly, my last project for My Scrapbooking Supplies, as my term is over. This time around we have a sketch to play with. There is both a card sketch and a layout sketch. As I am not a card maker. I did the layout sketch, here it is

In Memory of my Beloved Cousin Lynn

I don't normally share personal things on my blog, but feel inclined to do so (maybe it is all the pain meds I am on.)

My cousin Lynn passed away last night. She has been battling stage 4 brain cancer for the past two years. It happened so fast, at our family reunion over Labor Day 2008 she was nearly perfect. She is the one on the far left.
She was having a few small signs that prompted her to go to the doctor and when I saw her 6 weeks later she had lost use of her left arm and leg. After two long years and many many attempts at slowing the growth of the tumor she has left this world.

Lynn was just like her mother, the nicest person you would ever meet. She would do anything for anyone. She was sweet, non-judgemental, and accepted everyone for who they were.

She will be missed by everyone who knew, and if you knew her you loved her.

Good bye Lynn. And say hello to the three sisters and Big Lon.

My NSD Challenges

I am going to keep this short, as I have managed to severely sprain a neck muscle and I think my meds are kicking in soon.

Anyway, for NSD Dixie Pieces is having a big crop. There are quite a few challenges over there. I posted one of the challenges and here it is

"In addition to it being National Scrapbook Day, it is also National Mother Goose Day. So in honor of NMGD I want you to scrap about Mother Goose, or a nursery rhythm. Some possibilities include your favorite nursery rhythm or your child’s favorite.

If you want to play along and get a chance to win the big grand prize you have until next Monday.

Now on to my BIG NEWS

Well I have been sitting on this news for a while. The closer it got the more I wanted to yell it from the roof. LOL. I was asked to be the May Guest Creative Team Member at A Cherry on Top. Let me tell you, that this just BLEW MY MIND. I love that place and have been hanging out there for years. In my mind the CT there are rockstars. For real. So getting to hang with them for a month, is way cool.

And as GCT, they sent me some supplies for me to create a reveal with. Can't share that just yet, but stick around and a few days- maybe a week- I can share. Anyway, they have the big NSD crop going on and I hosted a round this am. Will do another tomorrow and a game of BINGO. So check it out.
